The Best Flamenco Album of the year, according to the 2023 Latin Grammys, is Camino, by Niña Pastori. A fantastic awards gala in Seville, with a first performance of Rosalía singing by Rocío Jurado, has been the exciting setting for a historic gala.
A beautiful performance by Rosalía singing “Se nos rompe el amor”, by Rocío Jurado, opened a very successful gala in Seville with live broadcast on TVE. Camino, by Niña Pastori, Best Flamenco Album 2023, has collected the award full of emotion from the hands of an affectionate David Bisbal. On International Flamenco Day, it was one of the most eagerly awaited awards and the artist wanted to vindicate this art:
“Flamenco is the most beautiful music in the world,” said the winner, Niña Pastori.

This is how the award for Best Flamenco Album was created
The Grammys are an annual global awards for the best music based on certain categories. They are something like the Oscars of cinema but in the sound section.
They were born in 1959, so they have had to remove and add categories depending on the musical evolution. In 2000, the Latin Grammys (music in Spanish or Portuguese) were created and included flamenco. Specifically, in category 35 for the best album. Latin Grammy in Andalusia has been historic.
This is given to vocal or instrumental albums that contain at least 51% of the total time recorded with new flamenco music material. This year’s nominees were:
1. Pura Sangre
Israel Fernández
[Universal Music Spain S.L.U]
2. Por La Tangente
Diego Guerrero
[Diego Guerrero Sánchez]
3. Quejíos De Un Maleante
Omar Montes
[2022 Sony Music Entertainment US Latin LLC]
4. Camino
In 2023, the Best Flamenco Album of the year went to Camino, by Niña Pastori, who was emotional to collect the award and vindicate flamenco.
[Sony Music Entertainment España , S.L.]
5. Prohibido El Toque
Juanfe Pérez
[Youkali Music]
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Manuel Moreno, has said that they want to organize the Latin Grammys again:
“It’s true that the Americans know how to do things well and I have to say that the organization of the academy is fabulous. But Andalusia and Seville are very used to big events. We know how to organize and we do it with talent, with joy. And proof of that is that they are very happy.”
The controversy of 2019
In 2019, there was no Grammy for anyone from flamenco, with controversy, of course The reason, according to the organization, was that there were not 25 works to nominate in the nominations (or, at least, of the quality that is required), and that is one of the rules of the contest. There were not a few who criticized such a decision and considered it a direct affront to this genre.
