History of the Castillo del Cante de Ojén Flamenco Festival
The Flamenco Festival Castillo del Cante is one of the biggest annual flamenco events in Spain and one of the oldest in the province of Malaga. One of its most important characteristics is that the performances are experienced in silence and with an almost reverential respect for the artists.
The best singers in flamenco history have performed at the festival, such as Fosforito, José Menese, Camarón de la Isla, El Lebrijano, Chiquetete, Juanito Valderrama, Calixto Sánchez, Luis de Córdoba, Rafael Farina, La Niña de la Puebla and many more.
The new generations of flamenco have also been very present in this festival, as they are essential to understand the present and future of flamenco. Arcángel, Miguel Poveda and Argentina are some of the names that have passed through Ojén.
Undoubtedly, a full-fledged show that we should not miss, art, culture and passion in one festival.
