Pride Flamenco Awards 2022
The Pride Flamenco Awards are here with a great line-up of artists who defend art above labels, we tell you about it in a new post on our blog.
The Pride Flamenco Awards are above all culture, diversity and justice, and are also a way of supporting and thanking the LGTBI collectives for the contribution they have made to flamenco and to life itself. It is the result of many years of accompanying and valuing the art that representatives of these groups have contributed to flamenco music. This is the first edition of this recognition, which we hope will be consolidated as an incentive to the work and art of people who represent a large and still vulnerable group in society, but whom we support, encourage and value highly. The aim is to make a difference and uncover many taboos that still exist in the art of flamenco and to feel proud of it, inviting anyone, regardless of ethnicity, colour, sex or sexuality, to participate in this expression, which is a World Heritage Site.
What will the first edition be like?
The first edition of the Pride Flamenco Awards will be held on 28 June, International LGTBI Pride Day at the EDP Gran Vía Theatre in Madrid. The event will be hosted by the renowned broadcaster of Radio Olé, Joaquín Hurtado, winner of the Award for Excellence in Communication in Spanish Radio, Television and Music. He will be joined by the artist Sara Salazar, member of the flamenco group Alazán, and sister of the renowned Azúcar Moreno.
