Origin of the Gazpacho Andaluz Festival
The Gazpacho Andaluz de Morón was born in 1963, on the initiative of Radio Morón-Emisora Sindical and the Town Council of Morón, for the benefit of the Sisters of the Cross. Its peculiar name comes from the drinks included in the ticket price: for 300 pesetas, a plate of ham, half a bottle of wine, and a basin of gazpacho.
This festival was one of the first to be born in Andalusia, when contests, peñas and anthologies were on the rise, held in summer, in open spaces. The offer they offered was designed for tourists looking for flamenco-related activities.
