We did not miss the opportunity to go into the tablao Cardamomo (now 30 years old in the capital of Spain) and enjoy one of the best dancers of the moment: Farruquito. Here is a summary of their show.
Farruquito has sought the warmth of the public in this tablao with seating for 95 people, offering his art in a very personal way. The date, June 2023. And it was not only in Cardamomo, as the old Villa Rosa (now Tablao 1911), the oldest in Madrid, was able to welcome him a day earlier.
The artistic team accompanying him in this show is made up of the bailaora Nazaret Reyes and El Tete, the guitarists David Jiménez and Kilino Jiménez, the percussionist Felipe Maya, the flute and sax of Jesús Montoya, and the singers El Cancu, Juan Motos Farina and Saul Quirós.
Farruquito
Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya Farruquito was brought up in the tradition of classical flamenco, being
heir to his grandfather Farruco’s school. It embodies authenticity in the ways of feeling and expressing
flamenco, leaving no one indifferent because what he does is full of truth.
Farruquito is a bailaor (flamenco dancer) who, at the age of eight, already had a season in a Madrid dance hall. At ten, he took part in the presentation of the Paralympic Games and in the Seville Expo. At eleven, he collaborated with Camarón and, a year later, he worked with Carlos Saura on a film. At the age of 18, he triumphed in the United States and The New York Times considered him the best artist to set foot in the Big Apple that year.
Cardamomo
The tablao Cardamomo is a “flamenco house” -as its owners define it- where the following pass by great artists and promising young talents of great national and international importance. Every day there is a different show where the musicians, guided by their artistic impulse, look for new ways to surprise the audience.
