Alcorcón (Madrid) celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities 2023 in honour of Our Lady of Los Remedios from 1 to 10 September with a great programme of concerts, festivals, dance and activities for all tastes and ages that will be spread throughout the various neighbourhoods of the city.
Activities of all kinds that include a Flamenco Festival al Cante on 6 September with the participation of: Esther Merino (winner of the Lámpara Minera 2022), Alfonso Salmerón and Bea Ballesteros as cantaores; on guitar, Rafael Andújar, Pepe Núñez; as dance troupe, Marisa Adame, Rafael Peral and Pedro Obregón (on vocals), as well as Niño Manuela (on guitar). In addition to the Alcorcón Town Council, the Peña Salmerón La Uvita Flamenco Cultural Association collaborates in this flamenco festival.
Esther Merino, in the picture, captures in her cantaora forms the respect and sensitivity towards the flamenco sources. This leads him to revive in his recitals the doctrine of Mairena, the recreation of Caracol, the power of La Paquera, the enchantment of La Cañeta, the salero of Chano and Mariana Cornejo, the grandeur of the house of Los Pavon, the hermeticism of Platero de Alcalá or the vein of Pencho and Encarnación, among many other masters.
