Arcángel began singing in 1987, but it was not until 1998 that he began to see his artistic worth recognised, first in the El Monte cycle and later in the X Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla. Since then, Arcángel has been singing to dance with figures such as Javier Barón and Eva Yerbabuena, or collaborating with the guitarist Vicente Amigo. With the Giraldillo prize for the best cante performer in 2002, he has not stopped receiving awards. The latest, in 2017, the Medal of Andalusia.
