Antonio Reyes at the Festival de Cante Grande

The LIII Festival de Cante Grande de Ronda (more than half a century old) is held on 19 August at the Murallas del Carmen in Ronda, with a gala as part of the Andalucía-flamenco brand. With a tribute to Rosi Orillo, the cantaor Antonio Reyes heads the bill accompanied by the guitar of Nono Reyes, with the bailaor Juan de Juan and the winners of the Anilla la Gitana competition, the cantaor José Joaquín Moreno Ortiz ‘El Cano’ and the bailaor David García Vargas, also performing.

Antonio Reyes was born in Chiclana, in a family of flamenco tradition: grandson of Antonio Montoya and nephew of Roque Montoya Jarrito. She made her public debut at the age of 6 and in 2000 she established herself as a professional with the Camarón de la Isla Memorial Awards and the National Flamenco Art Competition. In 2009 he recorded his first album Viento del Sur and in 2015 he recorded his second, a live recital with guitarist Diego del Morao.

Among his latest awards is the Giraldillo al Cante at the Bienal de Sevilla, and for the first time in history he has won the Flamenco Week Award of the Peña El Taranto de Almería for two consecutive years. These latest awards undoubtedly constitute the consolidation of Antonio Reyes.

As in previous years, the Ronda festival is free of charge and aims to highlight the historical tradition that the city of Ronda has with the world of flamenco, both singing and dancing.
