From the Teatro Luz Philips on Madrid’s Gran Vía, Sueños de un niño eterno, Camarón takes us on a journey through genius, legend and myth. With the musical direction and voice of Diego Amador, the biography of José Monje Cruz is the basis of the script of the musical, authorised by the family, who have exclusively ceded the image rights for this show.

An hour and a half show cannot cover a lifetime. However, in a single instant, events separated in real life by many years can be interspersed with events of many years and for thousands of kilometres. Everything that appears in the show happened at some point in José’s life.

The audience will listen to a very select sample of Camarón’s vast repertoire, performed by live by masterful musicians. Theatrical scenes that, through brushstrokes, depict the life and work of the soul of the gypsy genius, and wide-ranging audiovisual content, combine to form an impressive show and the distinct purpose of the project is to make the life and work of this “duende” (a different kind of artist) known and enjoyed by the general public universal

But thanks to this packed meeting, his dream has been fulfilled.

La Chispa, Camarón’s widow, talks about how this work was conceived

“When they brought me the script I was afraid. I was afraid that they would treat my husband’s memory wrongly again. I read it, I saw that it was respectful, and rigorous and I said to myself: this is what I want, let’s go ahead. So much so that my children Luis and Gema will be part of a show that will show the world who their father was…, a genius beyond time and a family man beyond genius”.
