On August 31st, the Alameda in San Fernando became the setting for an unforgettable evening celebrating young flamenco. The star of the night: Lola La Chiri, a cantaora just 15 years old, who brilliantly closed the 10th edition of the La Isla Ciudad Flamenca festival.

The atmosphere was filled with emotion. It was a Sunday, and despite the comings and goings of those preparing to return to work the next day, no flamenco lover wanted to miss the festival’s final night. With a packed venue, host Santiago Muñoz opened the event with words of gratitude for the audience and organizers, and paid tribute to key figures like Rafael Vargas and Javier Bey, who have left their mark on the history of the festival.

A young promise with the soul of a veteran

Lola La Chiri’s entrance was striking: she walked down the central aisle of the Alameda singing the zambra La Salvaora, immediately igniting the audience’s applause. This was followed by a powerful soleá por bulerías, and later an emotional rendition of La Tarara, which had the crowd singing along with her.

One of the standout moments came after a brief intermission, when she returned wearing a stunning flamenco dress. With it, she began a lively set of alegrías, full of freshness and vitality, before ending her performance with some fierce bulerías and a joyful fin de fiesta, where she also gifted the audience a short but impressive dance full of rhythm.

Lola was accompanied by top-tier musicians: Juan Manuel Fernández on guitar, Jesús Serrano on keyboard and flute, and Sole Garrido and Marina La Caracola on backing vocals and palmas. During her performance, she thanked Colin Preston and Regina Astorga of Yo Sonido, as well as the festival organizers, praising the quality of the sound and the warm support she received.

A closing performance that left its mark

The closing of La Isla Ciudad Flamenca could not have been more fitting. Despite being relatively unknown, Lola La Chiri’s talent did not go unnoticed. The festival made a bold bet on generational renewal—and the audience responded with a standing ovation, moved by what they had witnessed.

In the young artist’s own words, participating in this edition was “a great opportunity.” And those who attended would surely agree—it was a magical night where art, authenticity, and freshness filled the air.

The festival’s organizers, Flamenco de La Isla, have already announced that this 10th edition has been a total success. A full report covering the 42 days of continuous programming will be published in the coming days.
