With an impressive lineup of great flamenco figures, Mérida celebrates the Festival de
Universal Flamenco from October 21 to November 12. ALL FLAMENCO collaborates in its dissemination through its international channels.
Universal flamenco and the beautiful and monumental city of Mérida have an appointment from October 21. This festival was a resounding success in 2022 and the 2023 edition will not be far behind.
Combining art and culture, and with a marked international character, Flamenco Universal will have the presence of artists consecrated in the world of flamenco. Antonio Canales, Esperanza Fernández, Antonio Reyes, Miguel Vargas, Juan Vargas, La Kaita, Juanfra Carrasco or Andrés Barrios, among others. They will perform in such emblematic places as the Temple of Diana or the María Luisa Theater.
Programa del Festival Flamenco Universal de Mérida
With a special dedication to the centenary of the birth of the pharaoh Lola Flores, who illustrates the cover of this edition (image of the prestigious photographer Hans Burmann), the day starts on October 21, at 19 pm
in the Temple of Diana, with a premiere concert by musician, composer and pianist Andrés Barrios.
On Saturday, October 28, at 21:00 p.m., the María Luisa Theater will host the voice and art of Antonio Reyes. The appointment of November 2, at the Palacio de Congresos of the city, will be starring the cantaor José Mercé.
On November 3 and 4, the cantaora Esperanza Fernández and the bailaor Antonio Canales will perform, respectively.
On November 10 and 12, the Palacio de Congresos will receive the artists Tomatito and María del Monte. They will put the finishing touch to the II Edition of Flamenco Universal.
In the first edition of this festival, the Universal Flamenco award went to José Sánchez Gomes “Pepe de Lucía”.
On this occasion, it will be the emeritense singer Juan Cantero who receives the aforementioned award on Saturday, November 11 at 20:30 p.m. at the María Luisa Theater.
Then, the day will be completed by the singer Miguel Vargas with La Kaíta and Juanfra Carrasco, on the guitar of Juan Vargas.
The objective of this edition, as explained by the head of Mericars Tours S.L, Juan Cabral (in the video below these lines), is to promote the tourist-cultural brand of Mérida World Heritage Site with a worldwide diffusion through the channel ALL FLAMENCO, available on television operators and digital platforms such as Prime Video, Orange TV or Salt Mobile Switzerland.
