In May of this 2023, the foundation that honors the great Enrique Morente was registered. In these days, there has been its presentation to the media. And, from now on, this is what this cultural entity will do.
Twentieth of September has been the date chosen for the Enrique Morente Foundation to present itself in society. The chosen place, the Huerta de San Vicente de Granada, with the widow, Aurora Carbonell, and the three children, Estrella, Soleá and Kiki.
In fact, the entity is registered on May 29, 2023 in the Registry of Foundations of Andalusia. The full name is “Fundación Enrique Morente. House of Tradition and Translation”.
The positions are distributed as follows: Aurora Rosario Carbonell Muñoz as president; Estrella de la Aurora Morente Carbonell as vice president; María Soledad Morente Carbonell as employers’ secretary; and, José Enrique Morente Carbonell, as a member.
Objectives of the Enrique Morente Foundation
The purposes of this entity, in accordance with the provisions of its statutes, are the following:
“To promote art and culture in society, in all its disciplines, paying special attention to music, dance, literature, performing arts, graphic arts, sculpture and any type of artistic manifestation or cultural activity that men and women have promoted from their origin to the present day, and in particular flamenco, both singing, playing or dancing, as a symbol of identity of Andalusia in the world, which has the support of the largest cultural institution in the world, such as UNESCO, which included it in the representative list of intangible cultural heritage of Humanity on November 16, 2010 “.
In addition, the Foundation aims to treasure and protect the artistic legacy of the master Enrique Morente, Granada artist and universal creator, and thus preserve, disseminate and expand his work, deepening his testimony, promoting from his point of view, the knowledge of the most ancestral tradition of flamenco and its constant renewal, promoting creation as an essential tool and engine that allows “Enrique-cer”, translating and broadening all the horizons of flamenco and art in general”.
