<\/p>\nFrom October 1st to November 30th, 2025, nine cities in C\u00e1diz will host over thirty flamenco performances and cultural events as part of the IV Flamenco Biennial of C\u00e1diz, Jerez and Los Puertos. This year’s edition honors legendary flamenco singer Mar\u00eda Vargas and features top-tier artists such as Pedro El Grana\u00edno, Macarena Ram\u00edrez, Sandra Carrasco, David de Arahal, and Jos\u00e9 de los Camarones.<\/p>\n
The IV Flamenco Biennial of C\u00e1diz, Jerez and Los Puertos was officially presented on June 3rd at the Palacio Provincial of C\u00e1diz. Directed by Mario Gonz\u00e1lez, the event pays tribute to Mar\u00eda Vargas, one of the great voices of the flamenco golden era, born in Sanl\u00facar de Barrameda in 1947.<\/p>\n
Gonz\u00e1lez, founder of the iconic flamenco venue La Guarida del \u00c1ngel, celebrated the festival\u2019s growth since 2019 and reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and showcasing the art of flamenco. \u201cThe Biennial came to stay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition includes a rich mix of concerts, tributes, exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. The nine participating cities are C\u00e1diz, Jerez, San Fernando, Puerto Real, El Puerto de Santa Mar\u00eda, Sanl\u00facar, Chiclana, Algeciras, and newcomer Chipiona.<\/p>\n
Confirmed artists include Pedro El Grana\u00edno, Macarena Ram\u00edrez (premiering her new show \u201cEspina\u201d), Sandra Carrasco, David de Arahal, Anabel Rivera, Encarna Anillo, Alba Espert, Jos\u00e9 de los Camarones, Jos\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez, El Mijita, among many others. A special dinner in honor of Mar\u00eda Vargas at the historic Venta de Vargas will be one of the event\u2019s highlights.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda Vargas began singing at the age of nine and won acclaim at the National Flamenco Art Competition in C\u00f3rdoba in 1959. She shared the stage with legends such as Paco de Luc\u00eda and Manolo Sanl\u00facar and received the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts in 2019. \u201cI\u2019m grateful to be honored while still alive,\u201d she shared, encouraging young artists to preserve flamenco\u2019s cultural legacy: \u201cWhen I\u2019m gone, may flamenco live on forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Biennial also reaffirms the crucial role of women in flamenco. Tania Barcelona, regional delegate for the Andalusian government, highlighted how \u201cwomen and flamenco have always walked hand in hand\u2014and once again, they take the lead in this Biennial.\u201d<\/p>\n
Educational talks by flamenco scholars such as Manuel Mart\u00edn Mart\u00edn, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Casta\u00f1o, and Juan Garrido will enrich the festival with cultural and academic depth.<\/p>\n
