A wonderful show by the Ballet Flamenco de Andaluc\u00eda that celebrates the singing of an event that changed the course of flamenco: the Concurso de Cante Jondo held in 1922.<\/p>\n

This video provided by the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda shows the performance of the Ballet Flamenco de Andaluc\u00eda in 2014 with a very special protagonist. Specifically, and with choreography by Rafaela Carrasco, it is a tribute to the artists who marked that crucial moment for flamenco in 1922.<\/p>\n

To this end, songs and pieces that were witnessed in the Plaza de los Aljibes are recovered. For example, the sole\u00e1 of El Tenazas, the seguiriya of Manuel Torre, the ton\u00e1 of Caracol or the saeta of La Ni\u00f1a de los Peines. In other words, this performance by the Andalusian ballet incorporates part of the original recordings that have been preserved from the period but adds elements that make this show a personal and contemporary vision of an event that marked the course of flamenco.<\/p>\n

The Concurso de Cante Jondo held in Granada in 1922 was, without a doubt, an important event in the history of flamenco, as it marked a before and after for this art form. It was celebrated <\/span>in the Alhambra and was the first national flamenco singing competition. Everything about the Concurso de Cante Jondo de Granada in 1922 is in this report. <\/a><\/p>\n
