In one of the most traditional streets, this hat shop has withstood the competition with quality and few changes. Its location, in an art deco building, delights tourists and its wide-brimmed models delight visitors to fairs and pilgrimages. <\/p>\n

Federico and Juan, brothers-in-law, set up this shop in the centre of Seville, influenced by the former’s trip to Cuba. It was the first hat shop in the capital of Seville and, to this day, the last<\/strong> remaining one. Interestingly, Seville was one of the most important cities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in terms of hat production. The Fern\u00e1ndez y Roche felt factory was well known, a firm that today forms part of other specialists in head adornment, which we will tell you more about in a moment. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The owners are now in their fifth generation,<\/strong> and their customers include a mixture of tourists who are enthusiastic about the look of the shop and very loyal customers, especially during the Feria de Abril season. And among them, the odd film star, famous bullfighter or flamenco artist… <\/span><\/p>\n

Handcrafted and exclusive hats<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

They offer more than 1,000 hats of all kinds: <\/span>wide-brimmed hats for fairs and pilgrimages (the best seller);<\/strong> wool and felt hats for winter; cloth and panama straw hats for summer. Some come exclusively from Paris, others from Ecuador, and all are handmade.<\/span><\/p>\n

The premises, located on the ground floor of a beautiful Art Nouveau building, are spread over some 30 square metres, with a spiral staircase linking three floors. Everyone finds it curious that they don’t have a counter and loves to see the boxes of hats from decades ago on the floor and in the corners.<\/strong> This is all part of the charm, and the owners know it: not changing anything helps them to remain successful. www.maquedano.com<\/a><\/span>
