The Circuito Andaluz de Peñas 2023, endorsed by the Andalucía-flamenco brand, will be held in the province of Cádiz between 10 June and 18 November. On 11 September the bailaor Juan Carlos Avecilla performs at the Círculo Flamenco Hermanas Jiménez de la Rosa, in Ubrique.
Juan Carlos Avecilla was born in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz) in 1991. She graduated in Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the Conservatorio de Danza de Cádiz and trained with teachers such as Chiqui de Jerez, Andrés Peña and Pilar Ogalla among others. He moved to Madrid to continue his training with Rocío Molina, Israel Galván, Manuel Liñán, Rafaela Carrasco, Jesús Carmona and Aida Gómez, and formed part of companies such as those of Antonio Márquez, Javier Latorre and Antonio “El Pipa”. She graduated in choreography and performance at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila in 2015 and created her own company, which she currently combines with her participation in the cast of the Cía. María Pagés and Cía. Ángel Rojas.
Throughout his career; Juan Carlos Avecilla has received several awards and recognitions, including four nominations for the Max Awards 2020 and 2018, semi-finalist of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas 2019, five nominations for the Andalusian PAD Awards 2018 with “Tic Tac Toe”, second prize at the Tablao Villa Rosa Competition, first prize for flamenco dance at the Almería Flamenco Festival 2017, Spanish National Ballet Award 2016 and first prize for solo choreography at the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition 2016.
