The Gipsy Kings, the French group with the most records in history, will be performing at the PAM, Port Adriano Mallorca Festival, on 11 August. In reality, it is not the original group, but a mixture of the original members with the new generation of “gypsies”.
The idea comes from Diego Baliardo, one of the creators of the group (son of the great Manitas de Plata), who has always ensured the artistic sustainability of the works of the Gipsy Kings. Now, the name of the band is “The Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo”.
Gipsy Kings was born in 1987 under the impulse of two families from the south of France, the Baliardo and the Kings, who decided to highlight gypsy culture. In the beginning, the group was called Los Reyes. The click came in 1978, when Saint-Tropez’s most famous resident, Brigitte Bardot, invited them to host a private party. The PAM festival started in 2013 and is a mix of music from today and yesterday, and of the most diverse genres. The festival takes place in various parts of Spain.
